27-31 July 2026. International Summer School – New Frontiers in Ultrafast Quantum Optics
We are pleased to announce the Summer School “New Frontiers in Ultrafast Quantum Optics”, which will take place from 27 July to 31 July 2026 within the framework of the Lake Como School of Advanced Studies, co-organised by Prof. Giulio Cerullo (Politecnico di Milano), Prof. Simone Cialdi (University of Milan), Prof. Matteo Clerici (CLIP, Insubria University) and Prof. Alfred Leitenstorfer (University of Konstanz). The school will be held at Villa del Grumello, on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.
Details of the program are available on the school website: https://ufqp.lakecomoschool.org/
The school will focus on emerging topics at the intersection of ultrafast photonics and quantum science – two rapidly converging fields that are reshaping our ability to probe, measure, and control quantum dynamics on electronic time scales. The program will cover a range of topics, including:
- Sub-Cycle Quantum Electrodynamics and Field-Resolved Spectroscopy
- Ultrafast Quantum Spectroscopy and Imaging
- Attosecond Quantum Phenomena and Free-Electron Quantum Optics
- Ultrafast Quantum Chemistry and Photonics; Fundamental Fluctuations in Condensed Matter
Confirmed lecturers include: Jens Biegert (ICFO); Maria Chekhova (Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light); Daniele Faccio (University of Glasgow); Daniele Fausti (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg); Peter Hommelhoff (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München); Michael Krüger (Technion); Alfred Leitenstorfer (University of Konstanz); Maciej Lewenstein (ICFO); Mauro Nisoli (Politecnico di Milano); Ioachim Pupeza (RPTU Kaiserslautern); Frank Schlawin (Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter); Ron Tenne (Technion).
Thanks to the support of the Lake Como School of Advanced Studies, our institutions, and several sponsors, the registration fee has been set at a reduced rate of €450.
In addition, Zurich Instruments is offering one Zurich Instruments Photonics Student Grant, which will fully cover the registration fee for one student. The grant will be awarded competitively (details are available on the application webpage – see below).
The application deadline is set for 31/05/2026
Participation is limited to 40 attendees. Students will also have the opportunity to present a poster at the school.
Applications can be submitted online at: https://ufqp.lakecomoschool.org/application/
