Waves of light

The magic of frequency combs. From mW combs for contact sensing to petawatt pulses for remote sensing.

22/05/2025, h11:00-13:00. Conclusions on the first topic and a discussion on mW combs for contact sensing to petawatt pulses for remote sensing. The same properties of dispersion and self-phase modulation that define frequency combs are exploited in creating femtosecond pulses of tens to hundreds of mJ. Of the innumerable applications, I will select remote sensing and laser-induced lightning.
